Though beautiful in appearance, this necklace is extremely detrimental to those who wear it. The glorious jewelry was fashioned by Haphaestus, the god of smithing. He and his wife, Aphrodite, had a rocky relationship, for the marriage was forced. Haphaestus was dreadfully deformed, and his wife inhumanely beautiful. As she wasn't fond of her predicament, she had countless affairs with other gods and heroes. One of her more frequent lovers was Ares, god of war. Upon discovering that the two bore a child together, Haphaestus was furious. When she grew into a lovely woman and was about to get married, Haphaestus gifted this stunning necklace to her. Little did she know, he had cursed it to bring suffering to any who wore it.
