The Dossiers & Information Repository

Along with an eccentric detective character and an often heinous yet enthralling crime, detective fiction always contains case files and repositories of information. Most of the time, these detective characters work with their city's police. Often, they are consulting for the police. Either way, an investigation without information will get a detective nowhere. That is where case files and unique repositories of information come into play, especially in the case of this exhibit's source material.

Within Storm Front, Harry Dresden works alongside Bob, an ancient skull that has all sorts of arcane knowledge about ancient magics, how to use them, and other necessary tidbits of information. Along with a wildly perverted personality, that is.

On the other hand, Dirk Gently may be unorthodox, but he still uses traditional case files and documents to make his way through his cases. Otherwise, he partakes in a psychic understanding of the fundamental interconnectedness of all things. That is why he is known as a holistic detective, and not merely a private investigator or other form of the occupation.
