Description
From Lord of the Flies, it is an impressively large conch shell that the stranded boys deem as the marker of authority. Whoever holds the shell is allowed to speak, at least that was the rule. Soon the conch shell which stood for order and organization, became just a broken shell. The shell indicates a major turning point in the book where the group of stranded boys splits into two factions, which leads to rivalry and death.
