Description
From Lord of the Flies, this simple pair of glasses belonging to the character Piggy is the single sign of advanced intelligence remaining among the boys. Later in the book, the savage tribe comes to collect the glasses to light a fire, indicating that the glasses are the only tool the boys have from the civilized world. The glasses shatter at one point indicating that civility has been completely lost.
