Beetee Latier’s Wire Spool
Tools
<p>This type of wire was invented by Beetee, and was said to be as thin as hair and stretch for miles. Throughout the Games, Beetee guarded the wire with his life. Beetee revealed that to end the Careers' alliance they were going to connect the wire to the water and a tree that was continuously struck by lightning, so anyone near the damp beach would be electrocuted. Katniss and Johanna were sent to connect the wire to the lightning tree, but Katniss was knocked out and during this time by Johanna. When Katniss later followed the wire to Beetee and she found that he was electrocuted by a force field. So she did what she thought he was doing and attached the wire to one of her arrows and shot it at the force field after the lightning struck, destroying the arena.</p>
<p><em>“The gamemaker, Plutarch Heavensbee, had purposely put the wire in the arena for the intent of their escape.”</em></p>

Jabberjay
Flora and Fawna
The Jabberjay is type of bird mutation created by the Capital of Panem.
In the time of the Dark Days, jabberjays were used as a weapon to spy on enemies of the Capital. They were known to have the ability to memorize entire human conversations and were meant to return to the Capital with the information they had overheard from the enemies. Later, they became useless when the enemies learned of the Jabberjays' purpose and began feeding the birds false information.
The capital created only male Jabberjays, but when left in the wild to die off, the birds mated with Mockingbirds, creating a species known as the Mocking Jay.
Jabberjays were recreated for the use of the 75th Hunger Games. They tortured Katniss and Finnick by mimicking the voices of their loved ones screams. It is believed that these screams were not actual recordings of the voices, but rather digitally warped sounds created from recordings of the loved ones voices from interviews of past Hunger Games.

First created during "The Dark Days", which was a wartime when a rebellion began to rise against the Capital.
They eventually died off, but then were recreated by the Capital's scientists for use in the 75th Annual Hunger Games.

Tracker Jacker
Flora and Fauna
Tracker Jackers are a wasp like mutation who's venom can cause sickness, hallucinations, madness, and sometimes death. These creatures are significantly larger than average wasps and have a distict gold body. Tracker Jackers are known to attack anyone they feel threatened by and have the ability to track down their enemies. One sting from these little guys can create a lump "the size of a plum", there is also a green ooze that drips out of the stings.
The significance to their existence is that they can be perceived as a third party in any war because they do not take sides, but rather they attack anyone or thing that poses a threat to them.
In the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen uses these dangerous little guys to attack and ward off the Careers. This attack kills two of the tributes, Glimmer from District 1 and the girl from District 4.
While dropping the nest on the Careers helps her escape, Katniss does not leave untouched. She suffers from three stings from the tracker jacker nest. This causes her to hallucinate, making an encounter with Peeta seem unreal.

Wolf Mutts
Flora & Fauna
The wolf mutts were created to become a part of the 74th Hunger Games. As the game was down to the final four tributes, these mutations popped out of the ground to terrorize the tributes, by either killing them or to leading them towards the cornucopia.
Thresh was killed by these creatures, and they tortured Cato until Katniss took mercy on him and shot him.
These beasts show how evil and manipulative the Capital can be during the games. The mutts were created to force the tributes to run to the same general vicinity so that they would attack one another. The mutts were also given attributes to look like and act like the fallen tributes from the 74th Hunger Games. This was meant to affect the tributes psychologically. This technique worked specifically on Katniss Everdeen, when she noticed the smallest mutt had attributes that reminded her of her friend, Rue.

Monkey Mutts
Flora & Fauna
The monkey mutts were created for the 75th Hunger Games. The monkeys made up one section of the arena and they attacked tributes that were in that section during the four o'clock hour every twelve hours.
The monkeys were said to be orange and look like mandrills. They also had sharp teeth and claws that popped out like "razor blades". When bitten, the bite would often look harmless but could be deep enough to cause internal bleeding.
When Katniss, Peeta and Finnick were in the monkey's section during a four o'clock hour, one of the "morphlings" sacrificed herself to protect Peeta. The sacrifice showed that the tributes in the games this year were worried about protecting healthier and younger tributes - specifically Katniss and Peeta because of their parts in taking down the Capital after the games.

Lizard Mutts
Flora & Fauna
These creepy mutations are said to be as tall as humans but with tight, white, scaly skin. They have long, sharp claws and the ability to decapitate a person with one bite. They smell of roses to remind Katniss of President Snow's Roses. They were created to chase down and kill Katniss and other rebels. As they followed the group of rebels through the underground tunnels, they hissed Katniss's name.
These creatures had the ability to jump really far making it easy for them to catch up to the group. Four of the rebels from this group were killed by these beasts including Finnick.
These creatures show the power of manipulation the capital has on their creations and it shows how evil they can be.

Katniss’ Interview/Wedding Dress
Apparel
<p>Katniss' wedding dress was just another costume she put on to please the Capitol. However, when her wedding was canceled, Cinna worked his magic on the dress to make it a far more potent symbol. As she spins around during an interview with Caesar Flickerman, the white dress turns black and exposes wings around her arms.</p>
<p><em>“Just like the mockingjay, this dress encourages the revolutionaries to move forward.”</em></p>

Katniss’ Quarter Quell Chariot Dress
Apparel
<p>For the 75th Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta wore all black outfits that, at their control, would ignite in artificial flames. This look was supposed to give them a fierce stance, which the Capitol viewers loved.</p>
<p><em>“Using a device Cinna gave her, Katniss activated the simulated flames on hers and Peeta's clothes, giving everybody that "Girl on Fire" flair that the Capitol fiercely craved.”</em></p>

Katniss’ Wedding Party Dress
Apparel
<p>After announcing their engagement, Katniss and Peeta attended a party thrown in their name at President Snow’s palace. The dress Katniss wore lightly imitated a mockingjay complete with fashionable feathers on the shoulders. It also symbolized her nickname “the Girl on Fire” because the feathers had a firey look to them.</p>
<p><em>“Showing her love for Peeta was Katniss’ biggest duty that night at the party, because President Snow told her that he needed to be convinced of their love for each other. ‘You convince me, for the sake of your loved ones,’ he said.”</em></p>

Peeta and Katniss’ First Chariot Outfits
Apparel
<p>Katniss and Peeta wore black suits with capes that were able to artificially set on fire on command. Since they hail from District 12 where coal mining is the main industry, their outfits represented pieces of burning coal, the black jumpsuit being the coal and the flaming cape the fire.</p>
