During the 74th Hunger Games, the gamemaker, Seneca Crane, placed 12 bags in the Games arena, one for each district. They contained something each specific district was in need of. For Katniss and Peeta, it was a medication for Peeta’s gaping wound.

“Against Peeta’s wishes, Katniss traveled to where the bags were, grabbed District 12’s bag, and got back to Peeta after getting into a scramble with others in the arena fighting to get to the bags.”

Description
An account of the resource

This type of wire was invented by Beetee, and was said to be as thin as hair and stretch for miles. Throughout the Games, Beetee guarded the wire with his life. Beetee revealed that to end the Careers' alliance they were going to connect the wire to the water and a tree that was continuously struck by lightning, so anyone near the damp beach would be electrocuted. Katniss and Johanna were sent to connect the wire to the lightning tree, but Katniss was knocked out and during this time by Johanna. When Katniss later followed the wire to Beetee and she found that he was electrocuted by a force field. So she did what she thought he was doing and attached the wire to one of her arrows and shot it at the force field after the lightning struck, destroying the arena.

“The gamemaker, Plutarch Heavensbee, had purposely put the wire in the arena for the intent of their escape.”

Flora & Fauna
Description
An account of the resource
Buttercup is Primrose's pet cat. He is considered to be an ugly cat because of his matted, dirty fur and his scrunched up nose. He also has an ear with a chunk missing. His name is derived from Prim's belief that his yellow fur is comparable to the flower.
Buttercup was rescued and cured by Prim, making them instant friends. On the other paw, Katniss, Prim's older sister, does not have much luck with the feline. This is because Katniss had tried to drown the animal at one point.
Buttercup serves as a source of comfort for Prim when Katniss is in the 74th and 75th Hunger Games. He later becomes a source of comfort for Katniss when the two put aside their differences after an unfortunate accident.

Groosling is type of wild bird that looks like wild turkey, but is about the size of chickens. Katniss Everdeen often hunts them to trade when she is in District 12. She also hunts them and eats them when she is in the 74th Hunger Games.
Rue, District 11 tribute, talks to Katniss about the bird. She says they can often be found in her district. This gives the image that district 12 and 11 are close in vicinity because they have similar habitats.

Jabberjay
Description
An account of the resource
The Jabberjay is type of bird mutation created by the Capital of Panem.
In the time of the Dark Days, jabberjays were used as a weapon to spy on enemies of the Capital. They were known to have the ability to memorize entire human conversations and were meant to return to the Capital with the information they had overheard from the enemies. Later, they became useless when the enemies learned of the Jabberjays' purpose and began feeding the birds false information.
The capital created only male Jabberjays, but when left in the wild to die off, the birds mated with Mockingbirds, creating a species known as the Mocking Jay.
Jabberjays were recreated for the use of the 75th Hunger Games. They tortured Katniss and Finnick by mimicking the voices of their loved ones screams. It is believed that these screams were not actual recordings of the voices, but rather digitally warped sounds created from recordings of the loved ones voices from interviews of past Hunger Games.
