<text>Based off of the USS Mahan DD-102 from the Destroyermen Series by Taylor Anderson.

The USS Mahan DD-102 is a Wickes-class destroyer aka as a “four stacker” because of its four smokestacks that release steam from its four boiler rooms. Wickes class destroyer’s common armament consisted of 4 x 4 inch/50 caliber guns, 1 x 3 inch/23 caliber AA gun, and 12 x 21 inch torpedo tubes. The recorded top speed for Wickes class destroyers was at 35.3 knots (64 KM/h). The crew complement was around 100 officers and enlisted. The Wickes class was built during 1917-1919 and a 111 ships were built which saw action in World War 1 and held several roles through World War 2. She was assigned to the Asiatic Fleet and was a part of the squadron that also included the USS Walker.

Much like her sister ship, Mahan saw a great deal of action during the beginning months of World War 2. She served with Walker in several battles with the HMS Exeter, USS Pope, and HMS Encounter. Including Walker, Mahan was one of the last ships surviving after an attack by a Japanese battle group led by the IJN Amagi. Mahan was severely damaged compared to her sister ship because of a direct salvo hit from the Amagi. Because of this the few remaining senior officers decided to perform a final charge with the last amount of torpedoes left in her arsenal. The attack was effective and just like Walker she was transported to the Alternate Earth thanks to the Squall. Mahan now serves with Walker and her allies the Lemurians against the Grik threat.

Akira class starships are a part of the first wave of newly designed starships that came about after the Federation massacre at the Battle of Wolf 359. The new line of starships were designed to combat the Borg threat and provide combat advantages and increase survivability for Federation personal while in battle. The Akira class came with an armament of six type-10 phaser emitters and at least Five Photon torpedo launchers. The crew compliment of the Akira class is 500 officers and enlisted. The Maximum Warp speed is at 9.8 and can be sustained for roughly 12 hours. These new designs, features and advantages had their baptism of fire in the Battle of Sector 001 where Federation forces engaged a Borg cube in the Sol system. The new starships and tactics proved more effective against the Borg, with a fleet managing to deal severe damage to the Borg Cube and with reinforcement from the USS Enterprise, were able to destroy the Borg Cube. The Akira soon proved her worth again in several engagements with Dominion forces during the Dominion War of 2373-2375. </text>

<text> Description based off of the USS Walker in the Destroyermen series, not its real life counterpart.

The USS Walker is a World War 1 Wickes class destroyer aka as a “four stacker” because of its four smokestacks that release steam from its four boiler rooms.

The USS Walker saw action in the beginning months of America’s involvement in World War 2 after Pearl Harbor. During a retreat from Japanese forces the USS Walker and Mahan were the last remaining allied ships after HMS Exeter, USS Pope, and HMS Encounter were destroyed at the hands of a Japanese battle group lead by the IJN Amagi. When using a squall to cover their last ditch attack on the Amagi, Mahan and Walker were somehow transported to an alternate Earth which evolved different forms of intelligent life in the form of the lizard like Grik and the cat/monkey like Lemurians. The USS Walker has since been used to great effect against the ancient enemy the Grik, whose goals are to destroy Walker’s new found ally the Lemurians.
