Description
The green light from The Great Gatsby represents the hope and faith that Jay Gatsby holds on to. Gatsby, after losing Daisy, has placed himself in a house that is directly across a lake from where she lives. Each night Gatsby stares across the lake at a small green light that illuminates Daisy's dock. Again, the light symbolizes Gatsby's dream to be with Daisy and this representation overshadows the entire text.
Hope is the light we see at our darkest times.
