Luigi's knife
Title
Luigi's knife
Subject
Blades
Description
Luigi Capello's knife is broad with razor sharp edges and a handle of solid ivory. The knife is engraved with ciphers and names of its previous owners. Luigi received the knife from the Indian prince, Gaikowar, whose family had possessed the knife for centuries. This distinctive knife was stolen by Valet de Chambers (as Tom Driscoll), but he could not sell it for money to pay his debts because the knife was so recognizable. Instead, he used it to kill Judge Driscoll. The townspeople assumed Luigi committed the murder because they recognized the knife as his, but the fingerprints left by Valet de Chambers (as Tom Driscoll) proved that he is the murderer and the real Valet de Chambers.
