Isaly's Ice Cream

Subject

The Bluest Eye literary artifact

Description

Isaly’s was founded by William Isaly in Mansfield, Ohio in the early 20th century. The company was scattered all around the Midwest and stayed that way until the family retired in the 1980s. Now very few Isaly’s store are around but those that are still around are being operated by close family members of the Isaly family.

The store primarily dealt in deli meats and dairy products with their most famous product, the Klondike Ice Cream bar is still being sold today with its catchphrase, “what would you do for a Klondike bar?”

Today the Isaly name and products are under the Delicatessen Distributing Incorporated of Evans City, Pennsylvania Company for its lunch meats and sauces while Unilever sells the Klondike Bar.
