The Bow and Arrows of Artemis

Title

The Bow and Arrows of Artemis

Subject

An instrument of destruction for the great goddess.

Description

Artemis is one of the most well-known and respected of the Greek gods and goddesses. When she was quite young, she sat upon the lap of her father, Zeus, and wished for six things: to remain a virgin, to have many names (so she could be differentiated from her twin brother, Apollo), to have a choir, for nymphs and handmaidens to watch her dogs and bow while she rested, and to have a bow and arrow with which to hunt.

As a great and independent hunter, she is most well-known for the last wish that I listed. She used this bow to best many hunters and warriors, as well as to kill those that had done wrong by her.
